Work in Port of Bilbao continues
Green light has been given for the expansion of the AZ1 dock in the port of Bilbao. The Port Authority has called a tender for enlarging the AZ1 dock, valued at EUR 28.8 million, and to be carried out in 18 months.
The work will provide 231 m of new berthing and add 49,760 more sqm of esplanade, protected from the waves, by building a sloping wall perpendicular to the dock.
The new berthing line is a step towards balancing the already high operation rates and improving vessel handling efficiency at the southern dock. (cd)
