Weekly Egypt-Italy ferry route set for November
DFDS has launched a new direct freight ferry service between Damietta, Egypt, and Trieste, Italy, creating its first service in Egypt and the first such connection between these markets in a decade.
The route will primarily transport fresh produce, textiles, and other goods from Egypt to Europe and dairy, agricultural, and industrial products on the return journey. Offering a faster alternative to container shipping, the service will reduce transit times to approximately 68 hours. Weekly departures are scheduled from Damietta on Fridays and Trieste on Mondays.
DFDS has partnered with Pan Marine Shipping Services, which will manage a dedicated terminal in Damietta and ensure efficient cargo handling. This expansion reinforces DFDS’s commitment to growth in the Mediterranean, fostering stronger trade and economic ties between North Africa and Europe. (pb)
