VR sells road logistics business
As a result of the transaction, the staff working in road logistics and customer contracts at VR, a Finnish logistics corporation, will be transferred to a newly established company.
With the sale, VR strengthens its focus on its core businesses of transport, particularly railfreight. Additionally, the company aims to divest its station and depot properties to create a neutral operating environment for competition.
VR’s road logistics business generated a turnover of about EUR 80 million in 2023, with transport volumes amounting to EUR 4.0 million. The transaction does not affect VR's rail logistics business. The completion of the sale is subject to approval of Finland’s competition and consumer authority. (ben)
