USD 3 billion for a future in logistics

The Marseille-headquartered CMA CGM Group is opting for the American lifestyle and buying a majority share in California-based Ingram Micro’s commerce and lifecycle services activities (CLS), including the company’s technology forward logistics businesses in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Ingram Micro will retain the remaining portions of the existing CLS business. The transaction is valued at USD 3 billion. Ingram Micro’s CLS business specialises in e-commerce contract logistics and omni-channel fulfilment.

The transaction also includes Shipwire, a cloud-based logistics technology platform. The acquired business has estimated annual revenues of USD 1.7 billion in 2021 and employs 11,500 staff members worldwide in 59 warehouses, with a strong presence in the USA and Europe.

CMA CGM said in a media release that it believes the acquisition “will further complement Ceva Logistics’ offering in the contract logistics industry and support its objective to become a top five global third-party logistics player." Alain Monié, CEO of Ingram Micro, will stay at the helm. (sh)
