Up to twelve days faster Spain–France rail link

Maersk is launching a rail service from the Spanish port of Barcelona to the South of France. Starting in early November there will be three weekly direct blocktrains connecting Barcelona with either Toulouse or Lyon.

Via Toulouse the solution also connects cargo to Bordeaux and in a second phase on the Spanish side to Tarragona and Zaragoza.

This new offering can shorten transit times for import and export cargo in the areas around Toulouse, Bordeaux and Lyon by up to twelve days (seven days on average) compared to traditional routings via French or Northern European ports. Maersk operates this new end-to-end service via its own company APM Spain Railways and cooperates for the trains with Captrain and Naviland. (ben)
