UP creating intermodal capacities

The US class I railway Union Pacific (UP) has introduced an intermodal service connecting the southeastern USA and Mexico. The link offers transport capabilities originating in the network of GMXT (formerly Ferromex), the transport division of the Grupo México conglomerate, namely in Monterrey, in the northeastern state of Nuevo León, and Silao, in the central state of Guanajuato. The trains cross the border at Eagle Pass TX (USA) / Piedras Negras (Mexico).

The service introduces extensive intermodal capacities from Mexico into the southeastern US market, UP said. The options also help take trucks off congested highways and offer customers a complete transport solution traversing a key trade corridor, according to the company. (ben)
