Two traditions merging in Basel

An acquisition in Switzerland: The Basel-headquartered Nauta, a freight forwarding and logistics company founded in 1947, has acquired the company Bonatrans, founded in 1977.

Marino Ballo, managing director and owner of Bonatrans, will stay on board in supporting the management in both Zurich-Pfungen and Basel. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

In Basel, both organisations will reside in one single location. Markus Etter, managing director of Nauta, told the ITJ that both companies' services complement each other not only in European overland transport, in particular in Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Italy and France, but also in ocean freight (USA and Far East).

One of the assets Bonatrans brings in is a long-standing and well-established partner network, especially in Germany. The management of the location in Zurich-Pfungen will remain in Markus Hochreutener’s hands. Altogether, the SME will have approx. 80 employees from now on. (cd)
