Turgut Erkeskin honoured for life's work - so far

At the 8th Economy and Logistics Summit recently held in Istanbul, Turgut Erkeskin, president and CEO of Genel Transport, was honoured for his long career as an entrepreneur and a pillar of the industry as a whole. He was given the “Lifetime Achievement Award in Logistics” for his successful career and dedicated efforts to support the development of the logistics industry on a global and national level in Turkey.

The jury emphasised "his hard work, contributions, and achievements at several local and international NGOs including Fiata, Utikad (Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers), Foreign Economic Relations Board (Deik) and Istanbul Chamber of Commerce."

Erkeskin, who has been working in the logistics industry for almost four decades, not only built up his own forwarding company from scratch and established a successful business in Turkey, but also assumed responsibility for the whole industry, serving as president of Utikad from 2010 till 2016 and as president of the Logistics Business Council of Deik from 2015 to 2021.

Currently, Erkeskin is senior vice president of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (Fiata) - with a promising future in the ranks of various associations.

The traditional event of the Economy and Logistics Summit is a significant platform for Turkey’s logistics industry that brings together all stakeholders including logistics companies, government officers, NGOs, and representatives of the real economy to discuss a diverse range of topics on logistics and supply chains.

A significant part of the summit is selection of the annual Logistics Achiever Awards, which was organised for the 7th time this year. The awards were bestowed in 16 categories to recognise the people, organisations, and projects that make a difference in the Turkish logistics industry. (cd)
