Truck parking opened: just a drop in the ocean
Europe's first Dekra Platinum certified truck parking has opened in Timis County in Romania near the Hungarian border. The entire travel save centre parking is secured around the clock and video monitored by 160 installed cameras.
The truck stop has several driver facilities, 86 spots including 13 spaces for refrigerated vehicles and two charging stations for electric vehicles.
The shortage of safe and secure truck parking facilities in Europe is a major problem, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) says and calls for large investments to tackle this issue. 300,000 truck parking spaces are available in the EU, with a significant shortfall of 100,000 spots to meet total demand.
