Trieste expands intermodal network with Austria
Several projects have been initiated to enhance the intermodal network at the Port of Trieste. Thanks to a collaboration between Alpe Adria, TO Delta and Rail Cargo Operator, a set of intermodal services to Austria is now available, the Port Authority said.
In particular, the new offer comprises a complete train service, which from Trieste connects Vienna and Linz with two roundtrips per week, a direct service between Trieste and Vienna (one roundtrip per week), a direct service that links Trieste and Salzburg (two roundtrips per week) and an ad-hoc "single carriage" connection system, for requests for additional volumes, linking Wolfurt, Salzburg, Linz and Vienna.
