Trialling a solar energy powered truck
Geodis has joined hands with Volvo Australia to pilot the first fully electric (FE) variant truck for freight forwarding within Australia. The vehicle is powered by both solar energy and energy-efficient charging systems.
Geodis will be assessing factors, including the driving range, the suitability for heavy loads of up to 7,500 kg to be transported across 200 km ranges within metropolitan areas via FE trucks.
The aim of the project is to fully integrate these trucks into Geodis' Australian fleet to make delivery solutions more sustainable. Once fully integrated, these trucks are expected to remove all fine particles and nitrogen, in addition to ensuring a 95% reduction in direct carbon emissions. (ben)
