Trial run for smart freight wagons
TX Logistik (TXL) and Mercitalia Intermodal are launching a pilot project to test the use of innovative sensors and communication technologies in combined transport (CT). The project for a smarter goods train is intended to run for 15 months.
In the pilot, several freight wagons of TXL and Mercitalia (both part of FS Italiane), will be equipped with a wide variety of innovative sensors and communication technologies.
The aim is to determine how digital technology can best be integrated into CT operations and how processes can be further improved as a result. The "smart wagons" are being tested as part of TXL's everyday operations. (ben)
