Trailer manufacturer relies on rail
Krone in Germany is now delivering its vehicles by combined transport. In mid-January, the utility vehicles manufacturer introduced a block train which runs once or twice a week between Werlte (Lower Saxony) and Wörth amk Rhein (Rhineland Palatinate), Daimler Trucks’ main location.
Up to 32 semitrailers can thus begin their CO2-saving journey to the south – on the way back, trucks, and tractor units ready for delivery from Daimler Trucks are transported to customers in northern Germany and Scandinavia.
For the project, Emsländische Eisenbahn built a new loading facility in Werlte, and the Austrian CV manufacturer Vega provides its special low-floor wagons that can carry vehicles up to 4 m high. (ben)
