Trade Tech preparing UAE cargo security rules

Trade Tech is preparing for the UAE’s new ‘Maritime Pre-Load Cargo Information’ (MPCI) programme, which takes effect on 25 June, as the company has reported.

The regulation requires electronic cargo data submission at least 24 hours before vessel loading at origin ports. The regulation applies to all UAE-bound transhipment and stay-on-board cargo.

Bryn Heimbeck (pictured), president and co-founder of Trade Tech, sees this as part of a broader global trend. “Governments worldwide are prioritising safe and transparent supply chains and submitting cargo data 24 hours before departure is becoming the standard way of doing business.”

According to Heimbeck his company is well-positioned to support customers through the transition, with its experience in regulatory frameworks such as the EU’s ‘Import Control System 2’ (ICS2) and the USA’s ‘Importer Security Filing’. (js)
