The safest area for drivers
Durham is the police force area in England and Wales with the lowest number of speeding offences per capita, according to research from International Drivers Association.
Durham has the fewest annual speeding offences per 1,000 residents at just 0.95. South Wales and North Yorkshire rank second and third, respectively. Lincolnshire has the highest number of speeding offences in England and Wales each year, with 5.43 offences per 1,000 residents.
An average of 159,662 speeding offences are registered in England and Wales each year. The study analysed the latest police force data from 2010 to 2020 for each region in England and Wales. (ben)
