Testing a class 8 truck with natural gas engine

Clean Energy Fuels, a USA-based provider of renewable natural gas, has launched a programme to allow heavy-duty fleets to operate a truck equipped with the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine.

The North American transport specialist J.B. Hunt is the first company to participate in this programme. The Clean Energy’s Class 8 Demo Truck, the so-called 2025 Peterbilt 579-day cab tractor with a natural gas engine, will be available for fleets to test on their normal routes in up to two-week intervals.

The fleets operating the demo truck will be able to utilise Clean Energy’s fuelling infrastructure which consists of over 600 stations in North America, 200 of which have public tractor-trailer access. (ben)
