Terminal in Abidjan to rely on e-vehicles

Côte d’Ivoire Terminal has placed an order for 36 electric towing vehicles from manufacturer Gaussin. The new handling machines will be used in the future container terminal in the Port of Abidjan.

The towing vehicles, to be delivered in late 2021, are 100% electric, CO2 emission free and quiet. They help to reduce the cost of the energy consumed at terminals by 70%.

The order, totalling EUR 9.9 million, is one of the commitments made by Côte d’Ivoire Terminal’s major shareholders, Bolloré Ports and APM Terminals, as part of the public-private partnership signed with the Côte d’Ivoire authorities. (ben)
