Tallink Silja deploys ‘Star 1’ on Kapellskär–Paldiski route

Tallink Silja has introduced the ‘Star 1’ vessel on its Kapellskär–Paldiski route, increasing freight capacity whilst maintaining the number of departures.

The vessel replaces the previously deployed ‘Regal Star’ and ‘Sailor’, and offers additional space for freight and improved amenities for car passengers, the company said. The ‘Star 1’ will operate under a new timetable that is in line with the ferry ‘Baltic Queen’ on the Tallinn–Stockholm route, providing near-daily crossings between Estonia and Sweden.

The ‘Star 1’ was previously chartered for transport between Ireland and the UK; it has now returned to Tallink Silja’s fleet.

Kapellskär, the northernmost port of the ports of Stockholm, remains a key hub for trade between Sweden, Finland and Estonia. (js)
