Takeover to improve rail services
With the acquisition of Dutch rail operator Independent Rail Partner (IRP), Belgium headquartered rail freight carrier Lineas is bolstering its position in the Port of Rotterdam and the Netherlands.
IRP is an expert in first and last mile services in the Rotterdam region and operates rail services between Europe’s largest port and the rest of the Netherlands.
For Lineas, the Port of Rotterdam is of significant strategic importance for its Green Xpress network which connects many of the Western ports to the rest of Europe.
The acquisition will allow Lineas and IRP to extend their already existing collaboration and further integrate their operations to offer shorter transit times, new operational capabilities, and new Xpress connections from Rotterdam. (ben)
