Take-overs expand network to 21,000 km
Canadian Pacific (CP) has completed the acquisition of the Central Maine & Quebec Railway US (CMQ US). Together with the earlier take-over of Central Maine & Quebec Railway Canada (CMQ Canada), this completes CP's purchase of the entire CMQ network.
CMQ US and CMQ Canada will continue to operate in the USA and Canada. CP can now integrate CMQ US's 393 route-kilometres of rail line in Maine and Vermont into its network. The transaction also includes 92 route-kilometres leased from the Maine department of transportation.
CP thus runs a 21,000-km rail network connecting the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast across six Canadian provinces and 11 states in the USA. (ben)
