Switzerland: trend towards customised solutions continues
SBB Cargo Switzerland and SBB Cargo International achieved a balanced result in H1/2019. Despite the reduction of CHF 9 million in state subsidies, the company generated a result of CHF 0.25 million (compared to CHF 2.16 million in the previous year).
Cargo International generated a result of CHF 1.02 million (CHF 1.64 million in the previous year). In the first half year of 2019, SBB Cargo saw its volumes decline in system wagonload freight as well as in single wagonload freight.
The trend towards customised logistics services continues. Here, SBB Cargo has a chance of increasing its customer base by offering project solutions for transporting materials from excavations, for example, the railfreight operator believes. (ben)
