Swiss Post's new ID(eas)
As of 1 October 2021, Swiss Post has acquired Swiss Sign Group and around two-thirds of the shares in health care logistics provider Steriplus. Steriplus specialises in health care consumables and the preparation of medical instruments for operations.
Steriplus was founded in 2020 by the hospitals of Uster and Wetzikon, each hospital owning 50% of the shares. With the majority shareholding, Swiss Post will be able to offer more logistics solutions for medical services providers in the future.
Swiss Sign has also become an independent subsidiary of Swiss Post Group. Previously, Swiss Post held a 17% stake in the Swiss joint venture. Swiss Sign Group, which was founded in 2018, offers digital products such as identity services (issuing the Swiss ID, which provides secure access to online services), certificate services (issuing certificates that enable encrypted and secure online communication and forgery-proof signing of documents) and signatures (legally valid signing of documents and uploading of documents via Swiss ID app).
As a company with close ties to the state, Swiss Post is thus assuming responsibility for the provision of security-relevant online services for authorities and companies. (sh)
