Swire's new vessel in the Pacific

Swire Shipping deploys the “Chefoo”, its new 2,400 teu vessel, on its South East Asia service. This service connects South East Asia to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

Jeremy Sutton, general manager, Swire Shipping, commented on the new deployment: “Communities in the Pacific rely heavily on seaborne trade to supply essential goods such as food, fuel, equipment, industrial materials and manufactured products and to export commodities vital to global growth.”

“Chefoo’s” sister vessel, the “Changsha”, is operative since March 2020 and deployed on the same service. Both vessels are part of an order for eight feeder ships (four 2,400 teu vessels and four 2,750 teu vessels) scheduled for delivery till the end of the year. (mw)
