Supermarket chain to convert fleet to low CO2

Truck manufacturer Iveco will supply 700 LNG trucks to the German supermarket chain Edeka in Minden-Hannover. The company aims to convert its entire fleet from diesel to LNG propulsion by 2025.

Edeka placed orders for the first 275 Iveco LNG trucks already in 2022 and 2023. They will join the 80 LNG-powered trucks operating in Edeka’s green fleet leveraging the first bio-LNG filling station on the premises of the supermarket’s logistics centre in Lauenau, Germany.

By replacing its diesel trucks with the LNG vehicles, Edeka Minden-Hannover can cut an average of 95% of its CO2 emissions, depending on feedstocks, Iveco said. (ben)
