Super lorry saves up to 40% of CO2

GLS is now deploying a so-called “gigalliner” between its German depots in Grossbeeren (Berlin) and Hermsdorf. This eliminates the need for a conventional truck with trailer and reduces CO2 emissions. Emissions on the 250 km route will drop by about 40%, which corresponds to 100 t of CO2.

The mega lorry consists of an articulated lorry and a trailer with a swap body. It has a total length of 25.25 m. The „gigaliner is operated by specially qualified and experienced truck drivers. GLS does not make full use of the approved total weight of 40 t. For parcel deliveries, the increased volume is more important. (ben)
