Status reports with GPS

The Europe-wide general cargo network Online Systemlogistik (OSL) has introduced the real time transmission of GPS data to improve the information on the status of the shipment.

Previously, status reports were only sent by scanning. The GPS data now adds more details to the automated “reporting processes”: if a delivery was unsuccessful, the partner company automatically receives a notification together with the status report and GPS positioning that it needs to take action, for example to redeliver the consignment, check that it is complete or contact the customer.

The network includes 95 owner-managed logistics companies as system partners. The network has 95 locations and five hubs in Europe. (ben)
