Shuttle connects Shanghai with Hamburg

The first container train from Shanghai (China) arrived at the DUSS terminal in Hamburg-Billwerder (Germany) recently. The maiden voyage took the train from Shanghai through Kazakhstan (Alashankou), Belarus and Poland (Małaszewicze) directly to Hamburg. The new shuttle is operated by the transport company Shanghai Orient Silkroad Intermodal.

Initially, one train will leave for Hamburg per week, with the frequency to be increased to two to three departures per week in the long term.

On its first trip, the “Shanghai-Express“ carried fifty 40 ft containers loaded with consumer goods such as clothing, glassware, automotive parts photovoltaic equipment, cooking utensils and furniture. (ben)
