Short line railroad now in service
Charlotte Western Railroad (CER), a subsidiary of Jaguar Transport Holdings, has begun its rail operations. The US short line railroad acquired leasehold rights to approximately 21 km of track owned by the North Carolina department of transportation (NCDOT).
It connects with the two class I railways Norfolk Southern and CSX and is linked to a rail-served warehouse which Jaguar and NCDOT will extend to a multi-commodity and multi-mode transload.
Charlotte Western is the eighth short line railroad in Jaguar’s network that currently comprises Missouri Eastern Railroad, Cimarron Valley Railroad, Southwestern Railroad, Washington Eastern Railroad, Oregon Eastern Railroad, Texas Eastern Railroad and West Memphis Base Railroad. (ben)
