Shifting truckloads to the railways – every week

DHL Freight has launched an intermodal service between Germany and Denmark for full truck-load shipments. The freight trains offer three round trips a week between Duisburg (Germany) and Padborg (Denmark), with the rail transport taking about 12 hours. DHL Freight also offers end-to-end solutions, including pick-up and delivery. TX Logistik operates the rail connection.

With the new train up to 240 truckloads will be shifted from the roads to the railways every week, resulting in 1.05 t of CO2 saved per lorry. This equates to 250 t of CO2 a week or 11,500 t CO2 a year.

The freight trains depart from Duisburg on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and leave Padborg on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. (ben)
