Shifting car transports to the railways
In partnership with Fret SNCF/Rail Logistics Europe, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) despatched a test train for the first eco-friendly rail transport of new vehicles for Hödlmayr from Barcelona (Spain) to St. Valentin/Schwertberg in Upper Austria.
A second test train is already being planned. Regular services for the shipment of new vehicles are to be introduced in the course of this year. Initially, there will be one round trip per week between Austria and Spain, with the frequency to be raised to three or four trains per week at a later date.
RCG will organise the entire transport. SNCF will act as carrier with its subsidiary Captrain Espana for the part of the route from Saarbrücken (Germany) to Barcelona and back. (ben)
