Shaping Neoline's first cargo ship
Neoline has inked a LOI with Loire (France)-based Neopolia Mobility for the construction of its first 136-m long sailing cargo ship following a new international tender.
The project is now in the financial closure phase with the aim of starting construction this summer, aiming for a commissioning in the first half of 2024.
Neoline chose Neopolia Mobility’s offer at the end of a second international call for tenders it had launched at the end of 2020 involving about ten international shipyards.
Neoline’s project is based on the operation of ro-ro cargo ships with a main velic propulsion system, which reduces fuel consumption and associated emissions by 80% to 90% compared to a conventional ship of the same size. (cd)
