Shandong Port's cluster ambitions

According to Chinese media, China's Shandong Port Group (SPG), established in 2019, aims to strengthen its global presence, uniting major ports including Qingdao, Yantai, and Rizhao.

The coastal port cluster, led by Qingdao Port, is coordinated with others like Weihai, Dongying, and Weifang Ports. SPG's cargo handling capacity exceeded 1.6 billion t in 2022, with container handling at 37 million teu. A three-year expansion plan targets 2 billion t and 40 million teu capacity by 2026. (pb)
