Shaking up the US transport sector
J.B. Hunt Transport has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the brokerage operations of BNSF Logistics in the USA.
The affiliate of BNSF Railway Company provides third-party logistics (3PL) services for full truckload, flatbed, temp-controlled, drayage, expedited, and less-than-truckload traffic. It also offers warehouse, retail specialty, heavy-haul, and project services. The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2023.
JB Hunt and BNSF have already cooperated in the past. In 1989, they developed a double-stack shipping solution to complement both rail and trucking services. In 2022, they launched a joint effort to improve intermodal capacity. The new initiative continues this long-term business relationship. (ben)
