Service over the Trans-Siberian land bridge launched
RZD Logistics successfully has transported the first transit container from Europe to Japan through the territory of Russia over the Trans-Siberian land bridge. The 40-ft test container, consisting of various groupage cargoes, departed from Hamburg (Germany) to the port of Yokohama (Japan).
The shipping customer was the Japanese forwarder Nippon Express. The route passed through the Malashevich-Brest (Poland/Belarusian) border crossing and then through the territory of Belarus and Russia to Vladivostok, from where the container was shipped to its destination. The cargo was in transit for 22 days, ten days of which in trains operating on the 1,520 gauge. (ben)
