Schenker trials 35 m long road trains
With the road trains, DB Schenker is testing special road haulage operations in Sweden and combining high volumes with low CO2 emissions. With a single 35 m long truck, the company can transport up to 52 t of cargo. The company posted on Facebook that it recently received the necessary approvals from the Swedish government to operate this kind of road trains on predetermined routes.
Partnering with an automotive manufacturer, a trailer rental company, and a transport operator, Schenker is currently piloting this project between Trelleborg and Göteborg but is also exploring opportunities to introduce road trains to additional routes and even use electric tractor units to further reduce emissions.
