Scandlines sails out of the storm

Compared to 2020, ferry operator Scandlines increased sales by 20% to EUR 328 million last year, retaining its ebitda margin at 41%. In 2021, the company’s two ferry routes on the Baltic Sea generated revenues of EUR 260 million (2020: EUR 216 million).

While traffic figures for the full year showed double-digit growth compared to 2020, traffic was still significantly lower than in 2019 - with the exception of freight traffic, which increased throughout the year and reached its highest level ever.

"We have commissioned a zero-emission cargo ferry to be deployed on the Puttgarden-Rødby route in 2024 to increase our capacity by up to 23%. This is another important step towards realising our vision of zero-emission ferry operations," says CEO Carsten Nørland. (sh)
