SBB Cargo International now in France
With the newly founded SBB Cargo France, based in Huningue, Alsace, and its own safety certificate for the country which it received from the European Railway Agency on 21 November, SBB Cargo International is strengthening its position on the Rhine-Alpine corridor. As from the next timetable change, some services will be operated via France.
The establishment of SBB Cargo International’s fifth subsidiary - after companies in Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands – had been carefully prepared by managing director Omar Zerkly and production manager Amir Ounzerfi since 2022.
The Rhine-Alpine corridor north of Basel is reaching its capacity limits. The expansion into France (with an operational site in Yutz/Thionville) will enable SBB Cargo International to operate transports on the left bank of the Rhine. (ah)
