Saving 53 t of CO2 emissions at one go

Gebrüder Weiss (GW) Salzburg is now operating two gas-powered trucks on the European network. The vehicles run daily between Löhne in the German federal state of North Rhine –Westphalia and the city of Mozart in Austria. The trucks are powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas).

Compared to conventional diesel, LNG fuel reduces the emissions of nitrogen oxide by 70%, non-methane hydrocarbon by 90% and soot particles by as much as 99%. By deploying these new vehicles, GW expects to save about 53 t of CO2 per annum. The company has three more gas-powered trucks and one fully electric truck in operation. (ben)
