Samskip enhances services in the North and the Baltic

Cuxhaven (Germany) recently received its first visit from a vessel of the new liner service operated by the Samskip shipping line. From Cuxhaven, the weekly container service will now call at the Baltic ports of Danzig (Poland) und Klaipeda (Lithuania) for the first time, before the vessel sets sail for Oslo and other ports in western Norway.

The existing liner service between Hamburg (Germany) and western Norway, which used to run once every nine days, has been extended to the Baltic sea and now serves the ports of Hamburg, Cuxhaven, Danzig, Klaipėda, Oslo, Aarhus (Denmark) and then calls at Stavanger, Bergen, Holla, Ålesund and Måløy in Norway, before returning via Hamburg to Cuxhaven.

“By adding this new liner service to the Cuxport network, we strengthen our position as a short sea hub in the German part of the North Sea,” said Roland Schneider, head of business development at Cuxport. For the first time, the new Samskip service can now bring reefer containers with fish products from Iceland via Cuxhaven to markets in Poland and the Baltic countries. (cd)
