Salzburg subsidises modal shift
The federal state of Salzburg in Austria has decided to support companies with active industrial sidings and companies reactivating existing industrial sidings or offering single wagon transport to further the shift of freight to rail.
According to the Austrian Rail Cargo Group, companies will receive up to EUR 200 in state subsidies for each wagon in single wagon transport, up to a maximum of EUR 25,000 or 125 single wagons per company and year.
In order to ensure that the existing infrastructure is also used, operators can apply for subsidies of up to 50% of the costs incurred for the repair and recommissioning of industrial sidings. In total, Salzburg will provide EUR 2 million for the freight transport offensive until 2021. (ben)
