Russian Railways to work with Cargo Beamer
Russian Railways (RZD) and Cargo Beamer have signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop joint rail services between Europe and China and create new logistics products in Russia using Cargo Beamer technology.
The technology is designed for piggybacking – carrying trailers or semi-trailers on a train or flatcar, which enables high-speed loading and unloading, as well as the secure rail transport of road haulage trailers through the use of special wagon platforms and transshipment equipment.
The parties also intend to certify Cargo Beamer’s wagons for operation on the Russian railway network and to develop an optimal portfolio of services for Europe-China routes. (ben)
