Rooftop solar mats on 12 t trucks save fuel
Rooftop solar mats on 12 t trucks help to save fuel. DHL Freight is deploying 30 new trucks as part of the pilot phase of its driver recruitment initiative. These state-of-the-art 12 t trucks are manufactured by MAN and equipped with a turning assistant to increase safety.
Fifteen of the vehicles are also fitted with a rooftop solar system developed by start-up Trailar. Rooftop solar mats on the 12 t trucks lower fuel consumption by 5%.
The new vehicles will provide DHL Freight with sufficient transport capacities during peak seasons - mainly on the first-mile and last-mile legs. DHL Freight's driver recruitment initiative has attracted 50 new drivers so far. (ben)
