
Renewables partnership for Hactl and Shell
Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has signed an mou with Shell Hong Kong to expand the use of renewable diesel and electric vehicle infrastructure. Hactl has thus become Shell’s first strategic collaborator on renewable diesel initiatives.
Hactl has been testing hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in its ramp tractors since 2024. The new agreement will extend its use to more of Hactl’s 190 ground-service vehicles, cutting scope 1 emissions by 40%. HVO requires no engine modifications and offers significant lifecycle emissions reductions.
The partnership also includes plans for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Shell Hong Kong MD Anne Yu said the mou reflects a joint commitment to low-carbon energy solutions. Hactl CEO Wilson Kwong emphasised the company’s goal of advancing sustainable operations in air cargo logistics. (ah)
