Record figures for Cargo-Partner

Despite a difficult market environment, Cargo-Partner was able to record a significant improvement in revenue in 2021, exceeding the EUR 1.5 billion mark for the first time. The company also posted a growth of volumes in all its business segments. Compared to 2020, revenue rose by 72% and reached over EUR 1.8 billion in 2021. New locations were opened in UK, Greece, North Macedonia, Australia and most recently Indonesia last year.

Cargo-Partner was particularly successful in the FCL rail transport business, raising transport volumes to 15,000 teu, an uptick of almost 40% compared to 2020. In the LCL sector, volumes in rail transport increased from 66,000 to 110,000 sqm. Sea freight transport also reached a record level of 318,000 teu.

The historically high freight prices were the biggest drivers of turnover, however. The strongest growth was recorded in air freight, where tonnage rose from over 180,000 t to almost 240,000 t in 2021 – a surge of over 32%.

The expansion of the company’s road haulage and warehousing portfolio resulted in a 19.3% growth in the trucking and logistics segments in 2021.

Global warehousing space increased from 260,000 sqm to more than 280,000 sqm, with Cargo-Partner investing in new warehouse capacities in Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, China and Thailand, among other countries. (sh)
