Record-breaking year for port of Tanjung Pelepas
The port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a facility that is 70% owned by the MMC Corporation, achieved a record-breaking milestone in 2024 by handling more than 12.25 million teu, surpassing its previous high of 11.2 million in 2021.
This solidifies PTP’s status as Malaysia’s largest transhipment hub and a key player in global supply chains. Chairman Tan Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh attributed the success to the dedication of the PTP team, highlighting the terminal’s role in supporting Malaysia’s economic growth.
CEO Mark Hardiman emphasised the port’s commitment to future growth, focusing on asset upgrades, ESG initiatives, safety policies and digitalisation, to meet anticipated volume increases. The terminal plans further infrastructure enhancements to handle expected growth in 2025 and beyond. (pb)
