Recent sales in the Swiss maritime fleet
The Geneva office of the law company Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has reported having been involved in the sale of almost half of the entire Swiss maritime fleet.
HFW advised Swiss shipowner Massoel Shipping on eight separate vessel sales, representing 40% of all Swiss-flagged commercial maritime vessels. The firm also provided completion services on each of the transactions.
Olivier Bazin, head of HFW's Geneva office, said that "a number of the closings took place at the height of the Covid-19 outbreak, which required us to solve a number of logistics and legal issues with port lockdowns, restrictions on underwater inspections and crew changes, and of course virtual closing meetings."
HFW employs approximately 200 shipping lawyers and master mariners in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region. (mw)
