RCG widens its scope
ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is investing in the expansion of its international activities and founding its own sales company in Shanghai, China.
The new branch will become operational on 1 January 2023 and market rail transports between China and Europe primarily via the middle corridor of the Silk Road via Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Black Sea, Bulgaria and Russia. RCG will also launch Turkey/Greece rail services via Serbia in H1/2023.
The new route will relieve the existing Southeast Europe connection via Romania, where numerous construction sites are currently obstructing rail traffic to Central Europe. Initially, around 20 trains a week are to run via Serbia. (ben)
