RCG ships rail track components to Romania
The Austrian carrier transports the building materials over a distance of 1,650 km from Poland via Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary to Romania.
ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) began the transports for Track Tec, a supplier of track superstructure materials, in June 2023. By December 2024, the company plans to have dispatched more than 80 trains –up to seven trains per month.
Each train is 27 wagons long and comprises around 1,500 net tonnes. RCG handles the main run with its own carrier subsidiaries and partner railway undertakings take care of the first and last mile.
The modernisation project, which is supported by the EU, includes, inter alia, rail replacement, electrification, construction of bridges and installation of ERTMS. (ben)
