RCG increases activity in agricultural sector

The Austrian carrier ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has started to transport sugar beets to the factories of the sugar manufacturer Agrana in Tulln and Leopoldsdorf in Lower Austria.

Sugar beets are collected and loaded onto trains at nearly 36 pick-up points all over Austria, with up to 13 trains carrying loads of around 1,400 t to the refineries every day.

RCG’s Hungarian subsidiary has also started shipping sugar beets. Until the end of January 2024, it will be handling four trains daily, covering more than 150,000 km over the course of the harvest season. RCG is expected to transport between 450,000 to 470,000 t to the Hungarian Magyar Cukor sugar refinery in the coming months. (ben)
