Rayyan Air charters PIA "preighter"

As part of an agreement signed at the end of last month, the privately-owned Pakistani carrier Rayyan Air is chartering one of Pakistan International Airlines' (PIA) twelve B777 passenger aircraft for freight purposes.

The airline headquartered in Islamabad, in cooperation with Usmani Trading Company, advised local media that it would use the makeshift Triple Seven freighter to run flights between its home base and Urumqi in Western China for four months, thus underlining its company slogan of being "China airfreight experts".

Although it is a certificated Pakistani carrier licensed to operate charter flights covering passengers and cargo, Rayyan Air currently does not operate any own in-house aircraft. (ah)
